Maren Maras has officially commenced operations of two new geothermal power plants in Aydin, Türkiye, marking another significant milestone in the country’s renewable energy transition.
The projects include the 13-MW Nezihe Beren and the 33-MW Emir geothermal power plants, further strengthening Aydin’s position as a leading hub for geothermal electricity generation.
Engineering company Exergy announced the successful commissioning of the Nezihe Beren 2 (13 MWe) and Emir (33 MWe) geothermal power plants, which are owned and operated by Maren Maras Electricity Generation Industry and Trade Inc. Both facilities entered full commercial operation on 30 November 2025, following the completion of all required Ministry approvals.
According to Exergy, the projects were delivered in less than 13 months from the signing of the contract, highlighting a strong execution performance and effective project management. The company underlined that its continued collaboration with Maren Maras is progressing positively and expressed its appreciation for the trust placed in Exergy throughout the development and delivery process.
The commissioning of these plants follows an agreement signed in October, under which Exergy was contracted to supply two new geothermal power plants with a combined installed capacity of 46 MWe. The agreement was signed by Exergy International General Manager Luca Pozzoni and Kipas Holding Group Vice President Ahmet Öksüz, with Exergy Türkiye General Manager Erdogan Arpac? also present at the signing ceremony. This partnership reflects the growing cooperation between international technology providers and Turkish energy companies in advancing clean energy infrastructure.
Maren Maras operates as a subsidiary of Kipas Holding and is recognised as a key contributor to Türkiye’s geothermal energy sector. The company currently accounts for approximately 15% of the country’s total geothermal electricity production. With seven geothermal power plants already in operation across Aydin and Izmir, Maren continues to play a pivotal role in supporting Türkiye’s low-carbon energy strategy.
Looking ahead, Maren Maras aims to further expand its renewable energy portfolio through new investments, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable power generation and long-term energy security. The latest additions in Aydin underline the growing importance of geothermal energy as a reliable, baseload renewable resource in Türkiye’s evolving energy mix.
