oregon mapThe Bureau of Land Management (BLM) will hold a competitive geothermal lease sale on 10 July, 2025 in Malheur County, Oregon, offering two parcels of 5,235 acres each.

Each leased parcel will see 50% of the bid, rental receipts and royalties go to the State; 25% will go to Malheur County; and the remaining 25% will go to the US Treasury.

BLM Issues competitive geothermal leases for an initial 10-year period, which may be extended if the lessee establishes geothermal production or provides proof of diligent exploration.

Geothermal projects support domestic energy production while contributing to the nation’s economy and security. The Western regions of the US holds abundant resources of geothermal potential, and BLM has the authority to manage resource leasing, exploration and development of approximately 245 million surface acres of public lands.
