BLM geothermal leasesThe Bureau of Land Management has accepted winning bids on 17 geothermal parcels in Idaho, totalling approximately 68,025 acres for just over US$1.3mn.

The combined bonus bids, rentals and subsequent royalties from the leases will be distributed between the US Treasury, the State of Idaho, and the Blaine, Camas, Cassia and Owyhee counties where the parcels are located.

Geothermal lease sales support domestic energy production and American energy independence while contributing to the nation’s economic security.

The geothermal lease sales also help to meet the energy needs of the USA, consistent with the Executive Order ‘Unleashing American Energy’, aiding to solidify the nation as a global energy leader into the future.

BLM ensures geothermal development meets the requirements set by the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 and other applicable legal authorities.
