alsace geoThe French industrial company Arverne Group, who specialise in the production of renewable underground resources, announced earlier this month that its subsidiary, Lithium de France, has agreed to acquire wellheads from global technology giant SLB for its geothermal project in Alsace.

The geothermal heat and lithium project plans to reach an annual production capacity of 27,000 tons of lithium carbonate and 2.2TWh of geothermal heat by 2031.

The renewable heat production will benefit businesses, farmers and local authorities within the Alsace region through a localised supply chain. The low-carbon lithium will be dedicated to batteries to be used for electric vehicles produced in France.

Pierre Brossollet, Founder, Chairman and CEO of Arverne Group, said, “Our teams are particularly thrilled to work together, with the same innovation DNA to accelerate decarbonisation […] Our geothermal heat and lithium project paves the way for reliable energy thanks to science, engineering and know-how developed by committed people.”
