dig breaks groundGeothermal energy company, Dig Energy, has broken ground and completed its first paid commercial installation: geothermal heating and cooling at Sulfolk’s 100MAG, and AI and innovation hub in Boston.

Dig’s compact, modular rig was built to solve the challenges of high drilling and installation costs. The project at Suffolk’s 100MAG is the first to demonstrate Dig’s drill in the field with boreholes serving an individual building, installed on an active commercial jobsite.

The technology runs with a fraction of the crew, footprint and disruption of conventional drilling equipment. Site drilling began in early August and was completed in approximately two weeks.

Dulcie Madden, Co-Founder and CEO of Dig Energy, said, “Suffolk has led some of the most complex and sophisticated construction projects in the country and has a high bar for its partners to deliver exceptional quality at scale. This project is exactly the type of environment where the Dig technology excels: a tight lot, operating under a quick, live schedule. We're proud to be able to fit seamlessly into their infrastructure and be a key part of accelerating progress from initial design and permitting through drilling and building. We see our drilling technology as fitting right into Suffolk's campus.”

Parker Mundt, Partner, Platform at Suffolk Technologies, commented, “Dig Energy represents the kind of innovation Suffolk Technologies is looking to support. At 100MAG, Dig has demonstrated how its purpose-built, compact drilling platform can reduce the cost and complexity of geothermal deployment, helping make low-carbon energy infrastructure more practical and scalable for urban and commercial buildings. The project also demonstrates how Suffolk combines strategic investment with real-world deployment to accelerate the adoption of transformative technologies and advance the future of the built environment.”

Suffolk Technologies is an investor in Dig through its BOOST 6 accelerator, which brings merging technologies onto properties and project around the globe through Suffolk and a network of partners. Dig gives Suffolk a live deployment of geothermal, enabling it to better evaluate the scale and affordability of the energy sources for future commercial jobs.
