Project InnerSpace has announced the launch of GeoMap Europe, a geothermal mapping tool that unifies decades of data to reveal the continent’s vast potential.
From Iceland’s legacy utilisation of geothermal energy to the heating districts in France, Hungary and the Netherlands, the continent continues to demonstrate its successful geothermal developments across a wide range of applications.
GeoMap Europe now provides the tools to accelerate and expand on that legacy.
The technology highlights:
- High-temperature resources for power generation
- Significant district heating potential
- Industrial clusters co-located with areas of geothermal heat
- Data centre cooling and subsurface energy storage via geothermal
Jamie Beard, Executive Director of project InnerSpace, said, “Geothermal is the sleeping clean energy giant that the world has consistently overlooked, while collectively handwringing about the future of energy.
“If Europe moves quickly to launch its next chapter of geothermal development, energy independence and decarbonisation are the dual prize. GeoMap Europe is the tool that will give developers, researchers and governments a clear picture of where to get started.”
