gtsexpansionGreenFire Energy and TOYO Engineering Corporation have entered into a partnership to deploy advanced geothermal solutions in the Asia Pacific region.

Their collaboration, marked by a signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), will focus initially on Japan and Indonesia, with plans to explore future opportunities in North America.

The partnership brings together GreenFire Energy’s innovative geothermal technology and TOYO’s engineering expertise. GreenFire’s Advanced Geothermal Systems (AGS) utilise a patented closed-loop technology, which allows operators to extract heat from wells that traditional methods are unable to maximise. GreenFire will take the lead in subsurface modelling, technology deployment, and retrofitting, while TOYO will provide essential services such as engineering, procurement, construction, and digital optimisation. Together, the two companies aim to offer a comprehensive, turnkey geothermal solution capable of delivering premium, baseload megawatt power.

Both Japan and Indonesia have abundant geothermal resources and a number of active geothermal fields that could greatly benefit from this advanced technology. By revitalising these underperforming sites, GreenFire Energy and TOYO hope to unlock additional value from existing assets, allowing for an expanded supply of geothermal power. The aim is to work closely with customers in both countries to improve recovery from these geothermal fields and extend their operational life, increasing access to clean, sustainable energy.

Asia Pacific is a key region for geothermal energy, hosting the majority of the world’s geothermal production. The new partnership seeks to deliver comprehensive solutions for improving underperforming geothermal assets, offering both the technology and services needed to enhance site performance. In addition to the focus on Asia, the two companies will explore potential collaborations in North America, where GreenFire Energy owns several geothermal projects. This expansion will include joint feasibility studies and AGS retrofit projects, which aim to extend the life of existing geothermal infrastructure and provide more resilient, low-carbon energy.

Rob Klenner, President of GreenFire Energy, said, “This partnership marks a leap forward for premium, baseload geothermal power in Asia. Our closed-loop technology has demonstrated its ability to help improve recovery in existing assets; partnering with TOYO scales and streamlines field deployment. Together we can turn underperforming geothermal assets into high-value generation hubs that raise capacity, lower risk, and accelerate speed-to-power for operators across the region.”

The collaboration between GreenFire Energy and TOYO Engineering promises to bring innovative, low-carbon solutions to the region, contributing to the ongoing global shift toward more sustainable energy sources.
